Police check Post attacked in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: At least 50 militants attacked a Police Check Post late Friday in Sarband area of Peshawar, however, no loss of life was reported in the incident. According to the media reports, the militants fired three rockets at Riaz Shaheed Check Post in Sarband area, about 30 km southwest of Peshawar.

The exchange of fire between militants and Police last lasted for some minutes. The militants managed to fell after the attack. The check Post, located near the tribal area of Khyber Agency which borders Afghanistan, often comes under attack by militants.

However conflicting statements are coming in this regard as a local journalist in Peshawar but declined to be named, an estimated 120 militants attacked a check-post located some 30 kilometers southwest of downtown Peshawar at about 11:00 p.m. local time. Details about the militants and casualties are not immediately available at this point.

As the checkpost is located near the tribal area of Khyber Agency which borders Afghanistan, it often falls under attack by militants, said the local media reports.
