Islamabad: Military and political leadership on Wednesday again made it clear that undoubtedly our nukes are in safe hands and are working under a methodical Command and Control System. This was said in a Troika meeting held between held between President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani at the Presidency.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani held extensive consultations with the Chief of the Army Staff on the situation arising from the Abbottabad clandestine, Commission for Abbottabad Carnage to be made effective soon besides security and political scenario in depth.
According to Presidency Sources, meeting lasted for more than two hours in which the Troika discussed methodically host of thorny matters in depth. Sources told Pakistan Times that Army Chief expressed his full cooperation of Intelligence Departments in the ongoing investigations hence telling President and PM in this regard.
The situation was comprehensively reviewed in the perspective of Pakistan’s national security and foreign policy. Regarding statement made by the Iranian President, Troika said that Pakistan is a nuclear-weapon state. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday accused Washington, Tehran’s arch-foe, of planning to sabotage Pakistan’s nuclear facilities, during a media conference in Tehran.
They opine that our nukes are in safe hands and are working under a methodical Command and Control System and will leave no stone unturned in its protection. Pakistan does not need any third country for the protection of its nuclear assets, military and political leadership believed.
They emphasized during the consultations that the sole criteria for formulating our stance is safeguarding of Pakistan’s supreme national interest, by all means, by all state institutions, in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Pakistan, who above all value their dignity and honor.
Sources further added that during the course of the meeting, tense Pak-US relations also came under discussion besides Army Chief took in confidence President and PM on his meetings with US Central Command (Centcom) Chief, General James Mattis and last but not the least unremitting drone attacks by the US.
Meanwhile Naib Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Senator Prof. Khurshid Ahmad has asked the Government to take immediate precautionary steps to protect fully Pakistan’s nuclear assets as these are under threat from USA, India and Israel.
“We thank the Iranian President for his timely warning; from Sudan also similar message has come, and my own in-depth study of the statements of the U.S. key-functionaries and reports published by think tanks and media, show that our nuclear assets are under serious threat”, he stressed.
While I am convinced, Prof. Khurshid has said that by the grace of Allah, our Command and Control System is effective, but there must be no complacency at any level. The security system should be revisited to fully strengthening and the security forces should be in a state of red alert to ensure that any threat is met with greater force before any damage could be done.
