An unowned war

IT IS OUR WAR. IT ALWAYS WAS OUR BATTLE. THE DAY WE DECIDED TO JOIN HANDS WITH THEM WE BECAME THE ENEMY FOR THE ENEMIES OF USA AND ALLIES. COME ON PEOPLE TEN YEARS, 30000 + CIVILIAN LIVES, 5000 + SECURITY PERSONS, THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES EFFECTED, MILLIONS LEFT INTERNALLY DISPLACED PEOPLE. PEOPLE WHO ONCE WERE JUST LIKE US. PEOPLE WHO ONCE HAD THEIR OWN HOMES, THEIR KIDS WERE STUDENTS ONCE AND NOW…….. THE ONLY IDENTITY THEY HAVE IS IDPS. WAKE UP PAKISTAN BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

It seems to be the talk of the town these days… The death of Al-Qaida Chief in the garrison city of Abbotabad has again raised the questions of Pakistan’s loyalty in this war on terror. There is a split in the opinion across the world as well as in Pakistan. The world media is again cross questioning us and pointing their fingers on us. They call us incompetent. They mistrust us. They are even too reluctant to show the world what we have gone through all these ten years of war on terror. There are two sections of people around the globe, one who believe this war on terror being the deadliest for Pakistan as a nation and are of the view that we have suffered the most in this world because of this war and then there is this other section of people who just believes exactly the opposite. For them we as a nation matter the least and their only concern is about their personal interests and requirements.

That is just one side of the mystery, and then there is another surface of the picture. We as a nation are half divided to decide whether or not this is our war or it isn’t! God oh God…. Ten long years of ruthlessness, brutality, bloody combat deep inside our own cities, towns, villages and grounds. After having sacrificed 35000 precious lives of our own fellow countrymen we are on the verge of a national catastrophe. Yes I call it a national catastrophe because as a common Pakistani national I’m worried and depressed over the present situation. There is no law and order in the country it seems. Continuous terror attacks, suicide bombings, drone attacks, assaults on civilian as well as military installations are nerve shattering for all the people in the country who still are not completely out of the shock of American Operation in Abbotabad. What ignited the flames more was the latest attack on the one of the biggest Naval Bases (PNS Mehran) of the country in the strategically important city of Karachi.

At a time like this, when all the odds are against us and we are at receiving end from all sides, the need of the hour is to sit together and find a solution to this situation. Instead what is happening is disastrous. How unreasonable we get when we go far beyond the lines to criticize and question the loyalties of our own forces with the nation. This is a time when all we need is a sincere, honest, competent and dedicated leadership. But to our utmost misfortunes we have an incompetent, unserious and power hungry leadership. No matter it is the people on the treasury benches or the opposition, none of them have come ahead and taken the initial step to speak out to the nation and take them in to the confidence and address them exactly about what has been happening around.

These past few weeks have been the worst for us as a nation. This is a time when each and every one of us needs to step up and take the responsibility of being a Pakistani and a proud Pakistani. It is a time when we need to join hands, forgetting all our political, ethnic, regional differences aside and unite to show the world that “

HELLO PAKISTANIS WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS. IT’S ABOUT TIME YOU DO MORE FOR US. IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT YOU TELL US IF YOU ARE WITH US OR AGAINST US”.

But instead of this what has been happening is really shameful. Politicians are busy strengthening their positions on the treasury benches or on the opposition benches while as the media and the fame crazy anchor persons are busy beating about the bushes over and over. For God Sake people of Pakistan, realize what your capabilities are. We are all looking at you to come up with something substantial, anything that can bring us together, this scattered, shattered, confused and divided nation to a certain point of degree. One single point agenda should be Pakistan first. People are busy making documentaries, talk shows, surveys if this is our war or not?

I am not a professional writer not a scholar either. I don’t have the power to reach out to the masses either just like the politicians or the media personalities have but I just would like to request every single one of you and the readers to go out and speak for Pakistan. Speak for yourself. Reach out to the masses, people who are innocent and are unaware of the many things happening around and would believe whatever they hear. Go tell them that the war is not over yet. We may have more causalities but remember wars are not won by the armory or the number of fighters you have, the war is won on mental grounds. Ten continuous years of an unending war has certainly left us all restless and impatient but this definitely is not the time to lose all hope. We still are 180 million plus people and we are more than capable of putting up a real fight and indeed defeating this wave of violence against our beloved motherland. All we need is one voice instead of a hundred echoing sounds.

We are far ahead of disowning this war so wake up and own it and fight it on every single front you face it. Running away is no option anymore.

May God Bless Pakistan
(No Hard Words No Harsh Feelings for No one at All.)
Pakistan Zindaabad.

  1. So well written and well articulated,as a mater of fact I enjoyed reading writers very positive approach.Writer did not focus only to project the challenges to Pakistan and Pakistanis but well emphasized to a practical solution as well, for instance;”This is a time when each and every one of us needs to step up and take the responsibility of being a Pakistani and a proud Pakistani. It is a time when we need to join hands, forgetting all our political, ethnic, regional differences aside and unite” this copy & pasted paragraph from the above article is self explanatory and does justice to present writer as analytically strong as well as an individual sincerer to his country and countrymen.I must say Bravo Vishal !!!
