New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and former Indian Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishan Advani has termed the arrest of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev from his hunger strike and crackdown against his supporters as “naked fascism” and asked Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President ruling party Congress to tender apology.
L.K.Advani, while addressing a press conference on Monday also appealed to Indian President Pratibha Patil to call an emergency session of Parliament to discuss the issue as the Yoga Guru was observing hunger strike against corruption , which has become burning issue of India. “This was the act of total brutality to arrest a peaceful person who was just exposing the corruption of Prime Minister and the Congress party head”, he told the reporters.
He said that the plundered money may be brought back from abroad to national exchequer and Baba Ramdev may be released forthwith. He said the BJP would launch a campaign against the corruption in entire India after making consultation from party leaders.
He said that it was really surprising that the government, which was negotiating with the yoga guru to persuade him to give up his fast, suddenly cracked down on his supporters. “You not only arrested him, you beat up all the men and women, children and even old people in a brutal manner which reminds the British action at Jallianwala Bagh
To a question on the Lokpal Bill, Advani said corruption in the country was not a result of lack of laws, but of the lack of political will to punish offenders, especially if they belonged to ruler party.
