ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday issued a notice to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s son Abdul Qadir Gilani, asking him to record his statement before the FIA team investigating the Haj scam.
Following the issuance of the notice, Director FIA Hussain Asghar has been removed. It has been learnt that PM Gilani had taken a serious note of the FIA move to send summon notices to his son. Abdul Qadir Gilani had been asked to record his statement but he failed to appear, resulting issuance of his summons. The FIA also issued a notice to Zain Sukhara, an advisor to the religious affairs ministry. He is reportedly a friend of the prime minister’s son.
Abdul Qadir Gilani allegedly received Rs20 million from former Director-General Hajj Rao Shakil Ahmad and imported a costly vehicle from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) last year. on Feburay 11, 2011 Official sources told that the decision to interrogate Abdul Qadir Gilani was taken in line with the directions of the Supreme Court (SC) to FIA’s special investigation team to question him in connection with the case. While former DG Hajj Rao Shakil Ahmad, who is already facing court trial on corruption charges, allegedly paid this money to him during import of this bulletproof vehicle, sources told.
Meanwhile, a civil court in Islamabad issued arrest warrants of former Religious Affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi. An FIA team headed by Hussain Asghar raided his residence in the Ministers Enclave Islamabad but he evaded the arrest”.
