New Delhi: Most popular Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been arrested after being detained at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in New Delhi on Sunday by revenue intelligence officials after he and two of his troupe members were caught allegedly carrying US $1.24 lakh in undeclared foreign currency. According to sources Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will faced court tomorrow.
37 years old Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and his 16 members music troupe including his manager Maroof and event manager were detained. According to sources interrogation was underway, several hours after they were held by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials. he has been handed over to Customs Authorities for further investigations.
He is nephew of Pakistani singing legend Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is leading Bollywood playback singer from Pakistan and has several hit numbers to his credit including “tere must must do nain”, award winning “Dil to bacha hai ji”.
The foreign currency was not declared to Customs officials after the immigration checks, a DRI official said. Sources told that Pakistani High Commission is in contact with him. Furthermore Dunya TC reported that he has talked to his family after being detailed at Airport.
