PM consults political leaders over telephone on reducing size of cabinet

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani talked to the leaders of various political parties over telephone this evening for consultation over reducing the size of the Federal Cabinet in accordance with austerity measures being taken in wake of economic difficulties.

After the decision of Central Executive Committee of Pakistan Peoples Party to politically empower the Prime Minister to dissolve the Federal Cabinet and form the new one, the Prime Minister started consultation with political leadership particularly the coalition partners. The consultation were held in the spirit of reconciliation.

The Prime Minister talked with Mian Nawaz Sharif, Quaid of PML (N), Pir Syed Mardan Shah of Pagaro Sharif, Quaid of PML (F), Mr Altaf Hussain, Quaid of MQM, Mr Asfand Yar Wali, President of ANP, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman, Amir of JUI(F) and Mr. Munir Khan Orakzai, Leader of FATA Parliamentarians.

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani also talked to Ch Shujaat Hussain, President of PML (Q) over telephone and consulted him on reducing the size of Federal Cabinet. Ch Shujaat Hussain appreciated the government’s decision to reduce the size of Cabinet as well as Prime Minister’s gesture of consultation with political leadership. He also proposed for detailed consultation and dialogue among all political leaders on National Issues. The Prime Minister appreciated the idea of political consultation on important National Issues.
