Federal Govt. decides to hold judicial inquiry into murder case of Salman Taseer

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government has decided to hold judicial inquiry into the murder case of former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer. Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani directed Interior Ministry in this regard. The nomination of the members of Judicial Inquiry will be made in consultation with the Ministry of Law.

A joint investigation team of high police official has already been constituted which is probing the case. Anti-Terrorist Court is hearing the murder case of Salman Taseer at Adyala Jail and police has also submitted the chalan.

Earlier Kohsar police had registered murder case of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer under anti terrorism act and section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code while investigation agencies had taken into custody four more personnel of Elite Force, 2 shop keepers and some other persons. Punjab Governor Salman Taseer’s assassin, Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri was remanded in custody for charged with the killing of the governor.
