LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party is all set to take certain ministers with tainted public images to task and those who had failed to discipline their ministries, sources privy to the proposed changes in the federal cabinet informed said here Friday.

They said Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi, who is hitherto enjoying complete confidence of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, is likely to be asked to resign following allegations of massive corruption in the management of Hajj affairs.

They said proceedings in the Supreme Court on the suo moto notice taken by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on the corruption allegations had compelled the government to take corrective measures to control further damage to the government.

The sources said, “President Zardari had already expressed dismay to the PM pertaining to corruption stories in the ministries controlled by Gilani’s close friends.” Sources close to the Presidency said, “A decision has already been taken to show Kazmi the door and only a formal announcement by the PM is being awaited.”

The sources said, “If Kazmi was not charged for his involvement in corruption, he would be asked to resign for a dismal performance since he has bitterly failed to control the bureaucracy working under his control.” They said the PPP leadership does not want the SC to take on the government again on corruption allegations, instead it wants to nip the
evil in the bud before it reaches the top government.

  1. its high time for Kazmi to resign after allegation of Hajj scam, it can only make his face saving otherwise he may be kicked out. If PM sb does not take any extreme action then President should oust him because he has tarnished the name of Govt and party as well.
