WWF Pak & DPS join hands for Greener Pakistan!

KARACHI: WWF Pakistan and Dawood Public School have signed an agreement to promote the awareness about environment and nature conversation amongst the school children. In this regard an agreement signing ceremony was held at Dawood Public School where Ali Hassan Habib, Director General of WWF Pakistan and CEO DPS, Sabrina Dawood signed the agreement.

Under this Green School Certification programme agreement DPS would be accredited as a GREEN SCHOOL by WWF after completing a full Green Year in which DPS students will undergo different set of environmental activities enabling them to change their mindset to a caring, eco friendly and a responsible citizen. DPS would ensure that all the students participate in the proposed activities to be eligible to get a Green School Certification by WWF Pakistan after completing the year.

WWF Pakistan has recently launched a Green School Certification programme with the objective to engage the students and teachers of private and government schools in a structured Annual Awareness Programme to foster sense of individual responsibility and accountability in future generation of Pakistan towards nature conservation.

The Green School Programme will play an important role in ensuring the future sustainability of environmental resources of Pakistan by bringing a positive change in the attitude of Pakistan’s young people and will help to promote a more mature environmentally conscious generation.

This Programme has been planned for the whole year to give students regular insight into the eco dynamics and the over all environmental challenges faced at global and regional level, to broaden student’s scope as a responsible custodian of valuable natural resources and to consequently inculcate civic responsibility in them.

The objectives of the Green School Programme are to enable the students to generate an insight into the eco dynamics and the over all challenges to the ecosystem, broaden students’ scope as a responsible custodian of valuable natural resources, inculcate and foster civic responsibility in students, give opportunity to students to become official Ambassador of WWF Pakistan and solicit support of their parents and families membership for conservation of natural resources of Pakistan, develop a sense of responsibility of reducing our ecological footprint and to inculcate a habit of giving for good cause.-SANA
