ISLAMABAD: The hearing of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation case adjourned till Thursday (tomorrow) in Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC). A 17-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry heard NRO implementation case. SC rejected the NAB’s report related to implementation on NRO verdict
During today’s hearing, Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry remarked that the court’s decision on the NRO was not being implemented. The Supreme court was hearing the cases pertaining to the NRO.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has dismissed 2 NRO beneficiaries. These include Pir Mukarum-ul-Haq, executive director of the Printing Corporation of Pakistan (PCP), and Sadiq Ali Khan, managing director of the Federal Employees Benevolent Fund.
However Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that action would be taken against the person who appointed Adnan Khwaja while Secretary Establishment Ismael Qureshi said that Adnan Khwaja was appointed on the verbal orders of the Prime Minister. Adnan Khwaja during the hearing told the court that he is only a qualification of FA. On this, Justice Saqib Nisar said that an FA qualified person has been made head of OGDC and NAB’s this act has destroyed the law.
