ISLAMABAD: Amid conspiracies against the government, it will continue its struggle to strengthen democracy and provide due rights to the people of Pakistan, State Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ms. Mehreen Anwar Raja said Tuesday.
She said the appointment of Syed Deedar Hussain Shah as NAB Chairman was made on merit and it was the prerogative of the president. She said if certain quarters had any objection they could go to the court of law in this regard adding difference of opinion was the essence of democracy.
She further said the PPP was enjoying the support of people, it had roots in four provinces and Kashmir and was the symbol of federation.
She continued to say that it always pursued the politics of consensus adding it formed coalition government not only in the centre but also in four provinces with the objective that all the democratic forces should contribute to the development of the country.
Dispelling the impression of any change in the present political setup, she said there would be no long march by the PML-N.
She called upon all the democratic forces, that keeping in view the challenges faced by the country they should join hands and strengthen democratic forces to steer the nation out of the crisis and should not play in the hands of antidemocratic forces.-SANA
