PM’s advisor Latif Khosa tenders resignation

Prime Minister’s advisor on IT Latif Khosa has tendered his resignation. Whereas, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has accepted his resignation. Cabinet Division has issued notification of the resignation. News agencies have received a copy of the notification which states that on the directive of the PM, Latif Khosa has tendered his resignation. According to sources, it is expected that Khosa can appear before the court as government lawyer instead of Kamal Azfar.

He has been Attorney General of Pakistan. He was appointed as the Attorney General on 19 August, 2008. Latif Khosa has been removed form the office of Attorney General of Pakistan on October 10th 2009 due to allegations and on 10 February 2010 he was appointed as Advisor of Information Technology of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.

He has co-authored an electoral fraud report with former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto shortly before her assassination in December 2007. Latif Khosa was one of Bhutto’s close companions. On 20 July 2010, advisor to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Information Technology Sardar Latif Khosa sent his resignation to the President Asif Ali Zardari after developing disagreements with the Premier.

In an unprecedented move, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has summoned the former AG to an open court hearing on Oct 21 to reply to an allegation that he took Rs3 million as bribe to get a convict acquitted during the time Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar occupied the office of Chief Justice.
