CHARSADDA: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the appointment of Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was not a constitutional issue but an administrative matter instead, adding that President Asif Zardari used his prerogative. He said that no violation of constitution has been done in the appointment of NAB chairman, adding that it was simple appointment as chief minister of province do in transfers and appointments of officials.
Talking to the media after addressing the ceremony held here in connection with Benazir Income Support Program and Watan Card, he said, ‘How mid-term elections could be held when local body’s elections are not being held.’
Prime Minister Gilani said that he is not going to appear before Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday in connection with NRO implementation case. He said that if the coalition governments in four provinces and at centre will not succeed then which force will succeed.
He said that on 12th October 1999 elected government of Mian Nawaz Sharif was abolished by military dictator Pervez Musharraf and I condemn the act of Musharraf to oust Nawaz government, adding that it is right of PML-N to prepare and issue charge-sheet against Pervez Musharraf.
On the question of proposed Land Reforms Bill by MQM submitted in National Assembly, Gilani said that we will comment on the matter after going through the document and it will be the prerogative of parliament to accept any bill.
He said that the United States drone strikes in Pakistani tribal areas are counterproductive and they are leaving negative impacts on the war against terrorism.
He said that Pakistan is trying to convince US for sharing intelligence with Pakistan for taking action against the terrorists, adding that we are hoping that US will soon convince on Pakistani point of view.
He said that PPP had not used back door to gain power, adding that the change will only come though the masses.
He said that terrorism is the biggest evil in the country and the law and order situation has stemmed the foreign investment. He said that the federal government will fulfill its responsibility to rehabilitate flood-affectees, adding that government will distribute compensation money in affectees without any discrimination.
He said that no solution of Afghan problem is possible without the involvement of Pakistan as Pakistan is the part of Afghan problem’s solution. He said that there are some persons in media who are issuing predictions of ending of government but government will complete its constitutional tenure of five years.
He said that the present parliament has done record legislation including 18th Amendment, which restored the 1973 Constitution in its original form. He siad that the masses of Kahyber Pakhtoonkhawa has rendered great sacrifices in the war against terrorism, adding that the military operation against militants in Malakand Division was unanimous with the support of all political parties of the country.-SANA
