Misbah appointed as new Test captain

LAHORE: While announcing 16-member squad for Test series against South Africa in UAE, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named Test cricketer Misbah-ul-Haq the new Test Captain of Pakistan while Shahid Afridi would lead One-day and T20 teams.

It may be mentioned here that the new captain played his last test in January 2010 against Australia. Misbah started his test career in March, 2001 against New Zealand. The new captain has played 19 Test matches and has scored 1008 runs with average of 33.60 in 33 innings.

PCB had announced National cricket squad for one day international series against South Africa, the other day. Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal, Muhammad Hafiz, Misbah ul Haq, Abdul Razaq, Muhammad Yousuf, Imran Farhat, Shoaib Akhtar, Fawad Alam, Asad Shafiq, Saeed Ajmal, Zulqar Nain Haider, Tanveer Ahmed, Umar Gul and Abdul Rehman have been included in the squad.

The inclusion of Kamran Akmal is subject to his fitness. Shahid Aslam would be the Assistant Manager for the team.-SANA
