CDA Chairman for steps to enhance tax collection

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Imtiaz Inayat Elahi has directed the Finance Wing of the Authority to take concrete measures and formulate a comprehensive strategy to enhance the tax collection and achieve the targets fixed for the current fiscal year. He said this in a meeting here at CDA Headquarters on Thursday.

Saeed-ru-Rehman, Member Finance, Director Revenue, Malik Muhammad Iqbal and other officers of Revenue Directorate were also present on the occasion. The meeting reviewed the performance of Revenue Directorate regarding the tax recovery.

The Chairman CDA was apprised that Finance Wing has recovered Rs.378.163 million on account of tax during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, including Rs.27.654 million during the month July, Rs.110.509 million during the month of August while Rs.240.000 million have been recovered during September.

He was informed that 05 percent rebate was given to the tax payers on depositing their taxes by September 30, 2010. A large number of tax payers benefited from this concession and a substantial revenue of Rs.240 million was received during the month of September this year.

The Chairman CDA appreciated the efforts of the officers and officials of Revenue Directorate and expressed the hope that they would continue to work with zeal and devotion. He said that CDA is making concrete efforts to provide the best possible facilities to the residents of the city, however, expect to pay their taxes timely to help boost these efforts of the Authority.-SANA
