ISLAMABABD: Pakistan People’s Party Secretary General Senator Jahangir Badar has said that the former President General (r) Pervez Musharraf is the killer of late Benazir Bhutto and would be tried in her assassination case whenever he will return to country. He said that Benazir had not struck any deal with Pervez Musharraf, adding that Musharraf had conducted two times parleys with Benazir Bhutto for her return but no final deal was reached.
In an interview with local TV channel Jahangir Badar said that Musharraf allowed Benazir Bhutto to return Pakistan on intense pressure of international community. He categorically stated that Musharraf is responsible for BB killing and would be brought in the court of law whenever he will return to country.
Answering a question regarding Musharraf’s fleeing from country ,Jahangir Badar said that Pervez Musharraf left the country prior to compilation of final reports of United Nations Commission, constituted to determine the killers of late Benazir Bhutto.
He said that PP has not provided any safe passage to Musharraf for fleeing from the country, adding that whenever he will return in the country he would have to face trial in BB murder case. He said that Pervez Musharraf issued NRO solely to benefit cronies in PML-Q and other political parties. PPP Secretary General admitted that four or five PPP leaders took benefit from NRO but refused to tell the names of these beneficiaries.
Replying to the statement of Jahangir Badar, Spokesman of Pervez Musharraf Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said that if government has any proofs of Musharraf involvement in BB murder case they should have to bring these evidences in front of public and register case against Pervez Musharraf.
He said that the statement of Jahangir Badar is an effort to fool the nation, adding that Rehman Malik and Jahangir Badar are known as jokers in the masses and people enjoy their statements. He said that the government has spent 60 million rupees of the nation on UN Commission for BB murder probe but nothing was found in UN Commission probe also.
He said that the case registered by Musharraf government in December 2007 is in progress in Rawalpindi court these days.
He said that there is no proof against Pervez Musharraf in any case; adding that anyone could register an FIR in Pakistani courts but it will be the responsibility of courts to declare any accused as criminal or innocent after analyzing the proofs provided against him or her. He said that Benazir Bhutto return in the country after holding dialogue with the political and military leadership of the country.-SANA
