ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) is hearing sou moto notice case on police brutality against lawyers in Lahore on Monday. During the hearing, IG Punjab and commissioner submitted the report on Lahore incident. Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chuadhry questioned that why police fired straight at lawyers? He asked to IG Punjab that why scarcity of bar room was violated? CJP said that sadly police was manhandled later.

While Former president Supreme Court Bar Association Ahmed Ali Kurd on Monday held Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif responsible for the clash between the lawyers and lower court judges. Kurd while addressing a meeting of LHC Bar Association said that the issue of transfer of D&SJ Zawar Sheikh has been rearing its head for the last three months, adding that had it been heeded, it would not have snowballed into a serious Bar-Bench row. Rapping Justice Khawaja Sharif, if he had scruples, he would have come to Aiwan-e-Adl on foot to save the black coats from police highhandedness. -SANA
