CWG: Aisam clinches opening match

NEW DELHI: In a very pleasant start at Commonwealth Games, the Pakistan Tennis Star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi defeated Mugabe Duncan Kasumba of Uganda in straight sets on Monday. The tennis star stormed into the lead in the first set, taking it easily with a 6-2 victory. The second set proved to be a much sterner test for Aisamul haq as his opponent matched him stride for stride.

The set eventually went to a tie break. Qureshi eventually won the second set to secure a 6-2, 7-6 victory. Earlier, Aisams doubles partner Rohan Bopanna defeated Robert Buyinza of Uganda in straight sets in the men’s singles event. Bopanna completed a 6-1, 6-4 win in just one hour and two minutes in the first round. He is likely to meet second seed Peter Luczak in the second round.-SANA
