ISLAMABAD: Political analysts have agreed the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) was brought by Chaudhries and they have been backing it in order to hinder the third time premiership of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto. The analysts have said that the ‘Chaudhry brothers’ had emphasized upon the former President Gen. (r) Pervez Musharraf to struck a deal with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) as they wanted to make Pervaiz Elahi the Prime Minister.
In this regard, Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) Central Secretary Information Kamil Ali Agha has adopted the stance that they would be in the position to comment on this issue only when Musharraf informs the nation of the politicians’ names. He continued to say that Musharraf wants to throw the burden of his mistakes on the shoulders of others.
As per details, the former President Pervez Musharraf, while announcing to come into the politics, had stated the other day that he had issued the NRO as he was asked by some politicians. He also apologized the nation over the NRO. According to the analysts, Musharraf hinted at ‘Chaudhries’ while saying some politicians asked him to issue NRO and the Chaudhry brothers were certainly behind it.
In the backdrop of the NRO, the Musharraf had said that discussions were held for the deal with PPP to dismiss the cases and abrogate the articles that hindered third time premiership. He continued to say that his political friends had asked him to issue NRO in order to dismiss the cases instead of abrogating the article which restricted third time premiership so he had announced the issuance of NRO.
The analysts have observed the former President’s statement evidently indicated that Chaudhry brothers had suggested him to issue NRO in order to dismiss cases against Benazir Bhutto so that the third time premiership of Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto could be restricted. They said Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was of the view that the restriction on the third time premiership could pave wave for the premiership of former Chief Minister Punjab Pervaiz Elahi.
When asked in this connection, the former Senator and PML-Q Central Secretary Information Kamil Ali Agha said his party would respond when Musharraf would name Chaudhry brothers to have asked him to issue NRO. He said they could not comment on mere assumptions adding Musharraf has revealed several time that who were his political friends and with whom he struck a deal.
He said Musharraf had struck the deal with PPP without consulting anybody and during the course of discussion, Benazir Bhutto had issued statements that she would herself decide regarding the time for her return to Pakistan. He said Musharraf had settled all the affairs himself without discussing with anyone and the deal was proved but, he added, how claiming of being suggested after a deal had taken place could be called as right.
Formal discussions could not be called suggestions, he maintained. Kamil Ali Agha stated that Musharraf, on one hand, was apologizing the nation for his mistakes and was, on the other hand, throwing the burden of his mistakes on others’ shoulders. The political circle of the country was gravely criticizing the statements of Musharraf and the Interior Minister Rehman Malik to bring facts to the scene on appropriate times.
They think such statements were tantamount to throw dust in the eyes of the nation and they were, in fact, being issued in order to blackmail each other. Kamil Ali Agha said if both of them were having any facts in reality, they should inform the nation without wasting the time.-SANA
