Chinese company donates one million yuan for flood affectees

BEIJING: A private Chinese entrepreneur, Dong Fang Electric Corporation (DEC) presented a cheque of one million RMB (US$ 147,000) for the PM’s flood relief fund to Ambassador Masood Khan here this morning. Expressing his gratitude on the occasion Masood Khan said that Pakistan and China are good partners, exemplary neighbors, and trusted friends. He said the aid given by China to Pakistan at this crucial moment has been timely and substantial.

Mr. Wu Huanqi, Vice President DEC said that in view of serious difficulties faced by victims of current floods in Pakistan as well as due to close friendship between Pakistan and China, his company has decided to contribute towards alleviating the sufferings of their Pakistani brothers and sisters. DEC is currently doing three projects in Pakistan including Jinnah hydropower project at Jinnah barrage Mianwali, Nandi Pur thermal power project, Allai Khwar Dam in Battagram district.

The amount was deposited in Prime Minister’s Relief Fund shortly after the appeal for funds was launched, however, due to company’s pressing engagements, the ceremony to recognize the humanitarian gesture by DEC was organized today.-SANA
