KABULA: Bomb attack has left one more US-led soldier dead in southern Afghanistan, NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) says. The ISAF said in a statement that the soldier died on Thursday “following an improvised explosive device attack,”.
Taliban militants regularly use improvised explosive devices to attack foreign troops in the war-ravaged country. The nationality of the soldier has not been announced. The United States invaded Afghanistan in 2001. Washington and its Western allies station more than 150,000 soldiers in the war-torn country.
The US military dominates the international presence in Afghanistan, especially in the south where the war is concentrated. The nine-year-old conflict has done costly damage to Afghanistan, killing countless number of Afghan civilians and injuring many more. -SANA
