LAHORE: PML-N Quaid, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said the people of Pakistan are determining to defeat the scourge of terrorism and asked the World Community to strengthen economic and defence of the country. He said this at a meeting with Japanese Ambassadors to Pakistan who called on here at Raiwind Jati Umra on Tuesday.
He said use of force is not the only way to eradicate terrorism but negotiations can also play role in easing the situation. “Only 7 percent wars proved fruitful in the world therefore it is necessary to pursue the path of negotiations”, he said.
Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan had rendered many sacrifices in the ongoing war against terrorism but the world powers are paying little attention to the country’s problems due to which it faces difficulties to handle the situation.
PML-N Quaid said Japan had always supported Pakistan and now it can once again help through investment.
He said there are many investment opportunities in Pakistan and Japan can play its role to invest in different sectors of economy.
Talking to Indian Ambassador, Nawaz Sharif said they want better and friendly relations with all neighboring countries for which it is necessary to cooperate with each other. Nawaz Sharif stressed for resolving the Kashmir dispute because it was a big hurdle in the way of durable peace in the region.
He said the UN resolutions were the only way to settle this issue and India needs to resolve it according to the aspirations of Kashmiri people without wasting time. Meanwhile, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan also called on Chief Minister of Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. In the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest, peace and security situation in the region and bilateral relations.
Besides the ongoing war on terror, Shahbaz Sharif said Pakistan and India needs to resolve all the issues including Kashmir dispute through negotiations. He brought Indian High Commissioner attention towards water issue between Pakistan and India and said both sides should create an environment of better relations and confidence which is vital for resolving all the problems.
He said political leadership of both the countries should use all the available resources for peoples’ welfare to improve their living standard. Shahbaz said his government is following the policy to eradicate poverty in the province. He said Punjab government has evolved a program to provide technical education to the deserving students which will be started next year.
On this occasion, Indian Ambassador said both the countries were unanimous on different issues during Nawaz Sharif government. He said both sides had also started bus service as well as bilateral trade at that time. He also declared that Pakistan and India should resolve all issue through negotiations. NNI
