BUNER: Brig Fayyaz Mehmood Qamar, Incharge Buner Operation said security forces have killed as many as 27 suicide attackers bringing the death toll of militants to 80 while 3 security personnel embraced martyrdom in the operation adding Buner operation would be completed within week. He told this while giving a press briefing here in Daggar on Sunday. He said security forces had to face resistance while entering into Buner, as presence of militants in Ambella hills was very dense and suicide bombers riding on motorcycles tried to target security forces.
Militants were still present in Pir Baba and Suleman Bakhsh and plan had been chalked out to launch operation in this area too, he informed. Curfew was relaxed for three hours to allow the people to purchase commodities of daily use. Security forces had not initiated any land offensive so far and the entire operation was conducted with the help of artillery and helicopter gun ships, he pointed out.
The local militants were very few in strength while Uzbek insurgents were present in large number who was putting up resistance, he indicated. DCO Buner disclosed suicide attackers ranging between 30 to 35 were still present in the area and the militants would be flushed out from therein within a week and government writ would be established again.-ONLINE
