ISLAMABAD: Lal Qila in Lower Dir has been fully secured after the successful operation by the Frontier Corps (FC) against the miscreants on Sunday. According to Frontier Crops sources, around 25 bodies of miscreants have been found following the Lower Dir operation.
People of Dir have taken a sigh of relief and are extremely jubilant. They chanted slogans in favour of FC, appreciated the brave action and assured their full support to FC.
The FC troops in the morning on the request of Provincial Government and the people of Dir started operation against suspected militants hideouts in Islamapura and Lal Qila in Lower Dir. Heavy exchange of fire took place at Kala Dag. One person from Frontier Corps also embraced shahadat while 4 others were injured.
ISPR on Sunday said in a statement here that Frontier Corps started operation early on the morning against suspected militants, hideouts in Islamapura and Lal Qila in Lower Dir. Earlier, a fierce gunbattle erupted between militants and security forces, killing a large number of militants, including a key commander.
While one security personnel was also martyred in the operation and 4 others were injured. A number of militants were killed during the operation including their local commander Qari Shahid, the sources said. The ISPR said that gunbattle was underway in other parts of the area.
