ISLAMABAD: Director General ISPR Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas has termed the speculations of Taliban’s takeover on Islamabad “baseless and funny”. Talking to private TV channel on Saturday, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said that Pakistan Army is capable and ready to defend the country from any threat and will not let any “militant group” impose its own terms on the masses.
Abbas said that more than 1500 personnel of army and Frontier Constabulary sacrificed their lives in performing their duties. He said that the extremists were receiving foreign aid in accomplishing their malicious agenda in the country. He was of the view that the Swat peace deal would not be successful until the Taliban laid down their arms.-SANA
