Richard Holbrooke says Pakistan needs more; terms donors conference successful

TOKYO: US Special Envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke terming the donors conference “an extreme success” said Friday Pakistan got more pledges than anyone expected.”I think Pakistan should consider it a very good day for its people and the government and the leader of Pakistan should be congratulated on this success,” he told newsmen at the conclusion of donors’ conference.

He was appreciative of the big pledges made by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and from many other countries. To a question, the US envoy said the United States pledged $ one billion at the conference and will give more later for economic development, which is in addition of other aid. He, however, added that “Pakistan needs more” of the world support.-APP
