IPL shifted to South Africa from India; Cricket for Power

NEW DELHI: After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that South Africa will be hosting the second season of the Indian Premier League, to begin from April 17. South Africa agreed to support IPL season two. It was decided in a meeting this afternoon when IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi met Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola met.

according to reports South Africa has also assured the top security arrangements during upcoming mega event. Durban, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Pretoria, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth will be the venues for the second season of the IPL in South Africa.

According to the original schedule, the IPL was to kick off from April 10 but it is being reported that the reason for postponing the tournament is to give the Indian players a breather. India will be finishing their current tour of New Zealand on April 7.

It is said that Indians are not happy with this shift as it is unique for a domestic tournament to be held outside the country. So crazy cricket lovers have raised their voices and In an exclusive poll conducted by NDTV, 71 per cent of 1400 people polled have said that it is more important to have the Indian Premier League staged in India than to have the Twenty20 tournament at all. For several months IPL has been an issue for the ruling party, even political analysts associated the fate of party in the upcoming general elections. It is pertinent to mention that both parties can use the cricket tournament for winning cricket crazy votes in their favour just by blaming each other. In the same poll Indian Fans of cricket were asked as to how will this decision to move the IPL out of India affect the Congress and this is what they had to say:

Previously Cricket has been used as track two Diplomacy to dissolve tensions between India and Pakistan. Political Parties try to wage every tool to win favours among the masses; lets see what comes out of this shift in profit oriented cricket tournament; power or money.
