Function held at Tokyo to mark Pakistan Day:
Pakistan’s Embassy in Japan Monday organised a function to mark the National Day in a befitting manner. On the occasion, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at Embassy of Pakistan. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tokyo Noor Muhammad Jadmani read out National Day messages from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani. Embassy officials and a large number of Pakistani community members attended the ceremony.
Pakistan Day celebrated in Malaysia
The 69th Pakistan Day was celebrated with national fervor and enthusiasm at the High Commission for Pakistan in Malaysia in a simple but impressive ceremony. According to Pakistan’s High Commission, a function was orgasised that commenced with the hoisting of flag by High Commissioner for Pakistan, Lt. General (Retd) Tahir Mahmud Qazi to the accompaniment of national anthem.
The messages of President Asif Ali Zardari and the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani were read on the auspicious occasion. While addressing the Pakistani community the High Commissioner highlighted the significance of the day and paid rich tributes to the founder of Pakistan Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the leaders of Pakistan movement.
Pakistan Day celebrated in Saudi Arabia
The Pakistani community in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Monday celebrated the National Day of Pakistan with zeal and fervour. The day started with flag hoisting ceremonies held simultaneously at the embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh and at the residence of the Consul General in Jeddah.
The Acting Ambassador of Pakistan Sarfaraz A. Khanzada, unfurled the national flag at a largely attended ceremony held at the Embassy building in Riyadh. Messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out. Speaking on the occasion Khanzada said, “Pakistan has been put on the path of democracy and as per the President’s message, let us dedicate ourselves to the upholding of judiciary as the future of our country depends on the rule of law.”
Pakistan Day celebrated in Geneva
The 69th anniversary of the Pakistan Resolution was celebrated at the Pakistan Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva. The flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Chancery. Ambassador Zamir Akram, Permanent Representative read out the messages from the President and the Prime Minister on the auspicious occasion. Recalling the dynamic leadership of Quaid?e?Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Permanent Representative highlighted the milestones the nation had crossed since independence.
He urged the gathering to continue working tirelessly for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Officials from the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations and other international organizations as well as the Permanent Mission to World Trade organization had gathered to mark the occasion.
Flag hoisting ceremony held at Pak High Commission
An impressive flag hoisting ceremony to mark the 69th national day of Pakistan was held at the premises of Pakistan High Commission here on Monday. The country’s High Commissioner Wajid Shamsul Hasan raised the flag in presence of arge number of members of the UK?based Pakistani community and staff of the High Commission on a cold and blustery day.
The proceedings began with recitation of the Holy Quran. The High Commissioner after hoisting the national colour in his short speech spoke of the vision of Quaid?e?Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah of making Pakistan a true welfare and egalitarian state.
China congratulates Pakistan on National Day
The Chinese President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister on Monday congratulated the government and the people of Pakistan on National Day and assured the Sino-Pak Strategic Partnership of Cooperation will be further expanded and deepend. Chinese President Hu Jintao in a message to President Asif Ali Zardari said: “Excellency, since you took the office of President of Pakistan last year, you have attached great importance to Sino-Pak relations and pushed our bilateral cooperation in various areas by practicing what you advocated. I wish to express my deep appreciation in this regard.”
China and Pakistan are good neighbors, good friends, good partners and good brothers, he said and added, the Sino-Pak friendship is not only in the fundamental interests of China and Pakistan and their peoples, “but also benefits to regional peace and development.” President Hu Jintao said he was “firmly confident that under the joint efforts by our two sides, the Sino-Pak Strategic Partnership of Cooperation will surely be further expanded and deepened.”
Sri Lankan President sends felicitations to President Zardari on National Day
President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa has extended greetings to President Asif Ali Zardari on the occasion of National Day of Pakistan being celebrated on March 23. In his message to President Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Sri Lanka said, “On the happy occasion of the National Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, it gives me great pleasure to extend to your excellency, the government and the people of Pakistan sincere greetings and warm felicitations of the government and the people of Sri Lanka and those of mine.”
The Sri Lankan President in his message further said, “The close relations between our two countries are a clear manifestation of the enduring friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation that exists between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.” He further said, “I am confident that the bonds of friendship and cooperation that so happily exist between our countries will be further strengthened in the years ahead for the mutual benefit of our two peoples.”
Pakistani-Americans mark Pakistan Day, embassy holds flag-hoisting ceremony
The Pakistani?American community in Washington metro area celebrated Pakistan Day here Monday as they attended a flag?hoisting ceremony held at the embassy and renewed the pledge to work for solidarity and progress of the country. Charge d affairs Muhammad Aslam Khan raised the national flag in the embassy compound. He read out message of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, who pledged to take Pakistan forward as a progressive modern democratic state in the light of vision and teachings of the founding fathers.
Ambassador to the United States, who is in Islamabad for a few days, greeted the Pakistani?American community in a message on the occasion.“During the past six decades, despite numerous internal and external challenges, Pakistan has achieved remarkable progress in diverse areas. I have no doubt in my mind that this resilient and dynamic nation is fully capable of overcoming all challenges confronting it,” he stated.
To the Pakistani community in the United States, he said, it has an important role to play in this regard. “The Embassy lauds the efforts of the community to foster better and stronger Pakistan?US relations and is committed to working with the community to achieve this objective.”
Kashmiris attend Pakistan Day reception in India
Kashmiri leaders in large numbers attended Pakistan Day reception here on Monday hosted by Shahid Malik, Pakistan High Commissioner to India. APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Ali Shah Geelani, Chairman of its own faction of APHC, Yasin Malik, Abbas Ansari and Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat were among those Kashmiri leaders who attended it. Indian politicians, parliamentarians, jurists, academicians, members of diplomatic corps, scholars, mediapersons and elite of the city also attended the reception.
