Govt to bear of 2500 poor girls up to next Eid Milad: Zardari

ISLAMABAD: On the eve of Eid Miladun Nabi (SAWS), President Asif Ali Zardari has announced that the Government will bear marriage expenses of two thousand and five hundred girls belonging to poor families up to next Eid Milad. The announcement was made during a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday in the connection with National Seerat Conference.

Zardari gave away prizes to the winners of best books, Naat writing and papers on Seerat. On this occasion, Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi said as a gift to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Eid Milad, the President has decided that the Government will bear expenses of marriage of 2500 girls. He said for this purpose ceremonies of collective marriages would be organized during the year at provincial headquarters and Muzaffarabad.

Those who received prizes from the President included: Abdul Rashid Bhatti, Abu-al-Imtiaz, Muhammad Ikhlaq, Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim Faizi, Hafiz Muhammad Nizarul Hassan, Syed Ahmad Siddiqui, Ghulam Rasool, Sarwar Qureshi, Abdul Haseeb Salik, Mrs. Mudassir Hameed, Dr. Nigar Sajjad Zaheer, Aleemunnisa, Syed Azizur Rehman, Dr. Ikramul Haq Al-Azhari, Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali, Tahira Dastgir, Muhammad Iqbal and Mumtaz Ali Khan. The ceremony was attended among others by Minister of State for Religious Affairs Shugafta Jamani, religious scholars, Ulema and intellectuals.-SANA
