Zardari announces Rs.0.5 million for victims families

CCPO Lahore has said that the attackers who attacked on Sri Lankan team reached on the spot by the rickshaws. He said that they were 12 in number and soon after the firing they managed to escape from the scene. The police cordoned off the area and started searching the attackers in the nearest buildings. He said that they saluted to policemen who were killed in the incident as the police men laid down their lives to safeguard the Sri Lanka’s players. While Punjab Police held four suspected persons in Model Town in the wake of attack on Sri Lankan team. According to the police, the four men held from Model Town area of Lahore in suspicion of the attack and weapons were seized of the two detainees. The Police also recovered weapons and jacket pack with explosive device from a rickshaw, sources added.

Lahore Commissioner Khusro Pervez paid rich tribute to the security personnel who sacrificed their lives while rescuing Sri Lankan team successfully in the attack. Talking to the media men here, he said that the security personnel sacrificed their lives to save the lives of the guest team’s players who sustained miner injuries in the terrorist attack. He further said that Indian involvement in the incident could not be ruled out.

Punjab I G Police Khawaja Khalid Farooq has said that the government imposed red alert in Lahore soon after the attack on Sri Lankan team here on Tuesday. Taking to media men here, I G said that the police increased patrolling team in Lahore city after a firing attack on Sri Lanka’s players. He said that the police had tightened the security on all the exit and entrance of the city.

President Asif Ali Zardari announced Rs.0.5 million to the families of the victims who got martyrdom in the attack on Sri Lankan team here on Tuesday. He also admired all the policemen who martyred in the terrorist attack. Furthermore the President condemned this sad incident and said that the policemen sacrificed their lives for the survival of Sri Lankan team. The President gave orders for the formal investigation. President said that the elements who were involved in this gory incident would be taken to task. Moreover, the President passed recommendation to promote all those policemen who were injured in this attack.-SANA
