ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) Chief Fazalur Rehman has said President Asif Ali Zardari was happy on reconciliatory efforts carried out by him and Awami National Party (ANP) Chief Asfandyar Wali. It is pertinent to mention that Aiwan-e-Sadr denied the news regarding meeting held among Fazalur Rehman, Asfandyar Wali and President Zardari but Fazal confirmed that the meeting took place among them on Sunday.
Talking to a private TV channel, he refused to give any details regarding the meeting saying he and Asfandyar both called on President Zardari to find out the ways to cool down the heating political atmosphere of the country. He said that President Zardari was ready to settle down the issues with PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif; therefore, he and Asfandyar would hold meeting with Nawaz soon.
However according to sources: “We have convinced Mr Zardari to sit down with Nawaz Sharif and resolve the issue through dialogue,” Maulana Fazlur Rehman told reporters after a meeting. According to the sources Chief of ANP Asfandyar Wali also called on Nawaz Sharif and asked him to soften his stance. “President Zardari has given us a go-ahead to talk to Nawaz Sharif, which … is a good sign,” Maulana Fazl said, adding it showed President Zardari was willing to resume the policy of reconciliation with Mr Sharif and his party.
