ISLAMABAD: CDA Chairman Tariq Mahmood Khan directed Director General Water Management Mr. Sanaullah Aman to call recommendations from the foreign eminent companies to initiate the project of water supply from Ghazi Barotha Dam. He presided over a high level meeting here at CDA Headquarters on Saturday, which discussed supply of water from Ghazi Barotha Dam to Islamabad.
During the meeting, the representatives from the South Korean Company discussed in detail on plan of water supply from Ghazi Barotha Dam to Islamabad in the light of its professional expertise in the relevant field.
Tariq Mahmood Khan informed the South Korean delegation that CDA is taking effective measures to provide clean drinking water to the residents of the federal capital as per international standards without any break around the clock, and added that CDA has upgraded its Water Management Department and all dilapidated water supply pipelines would be replaced with the new pipelines.
In this regard, he said that designation of Director General Water Management has been approved who will be responsible to ensure supply of clean water to the residents of Islamabad around the clock. Tariq Mahmood Khan Chairman CDA advised the Water Resources Corporation of South Korean Republic to submit a detailed report to CDA Board for discussion in light of its financial, technical and other related aspects of the project.
He said that Authority is also planning for providing supply of water to the Zone-IV and housing societies around Islamabad. To overcome the water shortage in the twin cities, CDA is also working on supply of water from Ghazi Barotha Dam to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
In first phase, one million gallon each will be supplied to both Islamabad and Rawalpindi. CDA will provide water to the residents of Islamabad at their door steps around the clock at concession rates, said Chairman CDA.
Tariq Mahmood Khan assured South Korean company of all support and other facilities. The Chairman CDA directed Director General Water Management Mr. Sanaullah Aman that he should obtain suggestions / recommendations from international firms of good repute regarding supply of water from Ghazi Barotha Dam to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Besides Mr. Seo Taek Won, Finance Manager Water Resources Corporation from South Korea and representatives of Sambu, Member Finance Mr. Saeed-ur-Rehman, Member Planning & Design Syed Tanvir Bukhari, Director General Water Management Sanaullah Aman, Senior Director Public Relations Mr. Rawal Khan Maitla and Director Water Management were also present on the occasion.-SANA
