ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari conditionally agreed over removal of the Supreme Court decision on Sharif brothers’ eligibility, restoration of deposed judges and lifting of governor’s rule through an Act of Parliament.
Reliable source of Aiwan-e-Sadr told that after unexpected protest against proclamation of the governor’s rule in Punjab and disqualification of Shahbaz Sharif and Prime Minister Gilani’s unexpected reaction, who was not happy on imposition of the governor’s rule, and he could make an announcement regarding removal of SC decision on Sharif brothers’ eligibility case and restoration of the deposed judiciary, the President showed his willingness to resolve all the issues through an Act of Parliament.
The source said that President Asif Ali Zardari and his close companions were worried on the opposition of JUI-F, ANP and MQM on the imposition of the governor’s rule as all these parties openly criticized the President’s act and also expressed their sympathies with Sharif brothers on their disqualification.
Apart from this, the public reaction of SC decision on Sharif brothers’ case and criticism from the some sections of PPP on his decision, President Zardari decided to restore judges if the deposed judges would accept the sitting judiciary and NRO, the source said.
President Zardari also convened session of the national assembly after the situation emerged during the cabinet session in which the participants opined differently and Prime Minister Gilani also criticized the imposition of governor’s rule, the source added.-SANA
