LAHORE: President PML-N and former Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said Friday the imposition of Governor-rule in Punjab is nothing short of martial law under the dictatorship of President Asif Ali Zardari. He was addressing a huge rally of people at Lahore High Court Bar (LHCB). Shahbaz said those judges who took oath under PCO will be remembered in bad books tomorrow.
He hoped PCO judges will be held accountable for their misdeeds by the people of Pakistan soon.Former Punjab CM was of the view; “Independent judiciary is the need of hour if you (People of Pakistan) seek to make the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Allam Iqbal come true.”
Access to justice is the fundamental right of people; he urged adding lawyers’ long march and sit-in are the last resort to save our dear homeland. Shahbaz Sharif demanded reinstatement of November 2 judiciary.
While Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) Senator Salim Saifullah expressed his deep grief over the promulgation of Governor Rule in Punjab after the disqualification of Sharif brothers. Addressing a press conference, he termed the Governor Rule as non-political and immoral.
He said that the PPP and the PML-Q were not in position to form government in Punjab. “Making PPP patriot in the past was a blunder and it should not be repeated in future in PML-Q” he stated. He also stated that the Governor Rule was totally contrary to the article 234 of the constitution adding there was no crucial situation in the province to impose it. “Although it can be imposed in NWFP as the circumstances in there are not according to the article 234” he added.
The PML-Q leader further stated that the peace was not prevailing in NWFP adding the government did not have writ in the area and the people of the region were worried about the situation.-SANA
