LAHORE: Punjab Assembly (PA) on Wednesday ruled out the Supreme Court verdict which declared Sharif Brothers ineligible for contesting polls. According to sources, members Punjab Assembly passed a resolution rejecting Supreme Court ruling.
The resolution was tabled by provincial Law minister Rana Sana Ullah, which stated members Punjab Assembly reject SC verdict. The resolution declared SC ruling against Sharif brothers as insult of the mandate of People in Punjab.
According to reports The Supreme Court has disqualified Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif for electoral participation. As a result, Shahbaz Sharif is no longer Chief Minister of Punjab. The Supreme Court was requested to set aside the verdict of the Lahore High Court (LHC). The court announced a brief verdict after arguments of Attorney General Sardar Latif Khosa. The court order said that the learned court grants the plea of Syed Khurram Shah against Mian Nawaz Sharif and dismisses all appeals against it.-SANA
