ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) demanded that Polio Vaccine should be purchased through local sources. Its delegation called on Federal Minister for Health Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani here on Tuesday. The delegation urged that a long period standing President Directive for the lease of one plot in NIH in the name of PMA for construction of Rawalpindi/Islamabad branch building should be implemented.
The Minister agreed and assured it that next Polio Vaccine procurement shall be made for one whole financial year and shall not be done in piecemeal. The Minister asked D. G. Health to decide the matter within the current month. The delegation was of the view that NIH should produce necessary vaccine.
Minister agreed and informed that a three years strategic plan has been prepared which is being actively followed up and would help NIH to meet its functions more comprehensively.-SANA
