Taliban commander killed; Two alleged US spies killed in NWA

WANA: A Taliban commander was killed while other was injured when a blast hit their vehicle in Tanga area of South Waziristan Agency near Afghan border, private TV channel reported on Monday. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Meanwhile, militants in Sheratala area of Tehsil Spinwam killed a man they accused of being a U.S spy and dumped his body by the side of a road near the Afghan border.

While the militants killed two persons in North Waziristan Agency and Mohmand Agency on charges of spying for the United States. The body of an Afghan national was found on Monday near roadside in the Spinwam area of Miranshah. A note found near body said that he had been spying for the US. The bullet-riddled body of a tribesman, Rafiq Khan, was found from Gongat Jawar area in Bajaur Agency. The notes found with the bodies’ said that anyone spying for would.

According to other news Security forces have killed six more militants in fresh offensive before regaining control of Inayat Kilay area in Bajaur Agency. Meanwhile, curfew was clamped around the agency for an indefinite period. Security forces, after taking over Inayat Kilay area, continued to make advancement deep into Mamond tehsil.

Earlier, forces backed by helicopter gunship and artillery bombed militants’ hideouts, killing six more militants. The death toll may rise, sources said. In another incident, several mortar shells fired by militants at Civil Colony landed in open fields, causing no loss of life.-SANA
