Babar Awan for masses socio-economic prosperity

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Babar Awan has said that the manifesto of PPP had been people friendly and served for the socio-economic prosperity and well being of the common man.

Addressing an open katchery at District Council hall Attock the Minister said that a dictator during his nine and half years rule destroyed institutions and the bureaucracy instead of serving the nation engaged pleasing one man which resulted creation o vast distance between bureaucracy and the public. Pakistan Peoples Party after coming into power had brought back the bureaucracy on the track and today’s open katchery was the example of it, he maintained.

Dr. Babar Awan said that when PPP took over the foreign reserves had gone down to the level of 4 billion dollars. Now the foreign reserves were touching to the level of 12 billion dollars. The democratic institution had gained roots and the economy was stable. The country during the next five year will be run according to the vision of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed.

The Minister said some leaders are engaged to cash the lawyers’ movement sitting behind the curtain. They should come forward and participate in the main stream of politics. Highlighting Pakistan People Party manifesto the Minister said in democracy the real power rest in the hands of the people.

He expressed the confident that the present government under the visionary leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani would make the country economically and politically strong and prosperous. Dr. Babar Awan said in the centre and provinces coalition government was enjoying full support of the people, which was evident during presidential, Prime Minister and speaker of the national assembly election.

He expressed the confident that in the coming senator election in March 2009 the PPP and its coalition partner will also sweep. Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Babar Awan also met members of District Bar Association Attock. Addressing the lawyers community he said that Pakistan Peoples Party believe in the rule of law and supremacy of the parliament peaceful law and order situation was imperative for the smooth progress of the country.

He said the present government was making all out efforts to strengthening the economy of the country. To rule the country was the right of the party enjoyed the popular support of the masses. Criticizing the policy of Musharraf government the Federal Minister said Musharraf sold Dr. Aafia for some dollars whereas the present government brought her daughter back. Musharraf detained our atomic scientist Dr. Qadeer Khan and we freed him.

Dr. Babar Awan said that Pakistan was a responsible atomic nation of 1600 million people. Peace was the need of the hour for which the present government was working on priority basis. He said Pakistan was successful democratic state, where democratic culture was flourishing. No political person was in jail and no victimization was carried out on political basis. Political activities were allowed. Dr. Babar Awan said that the way of horse trading was completely blocked and defence budget was presented in the parliament for the first time in our history.

Earlier, when the Federal Minister arrived at District Council Hall, Hakmeen Khan, Ex-Senator, PPP Sher Afzal District President PPP Wqar Ahmad awan, Additional District Secretary PPP and Syeda Noor Moghal head of PPP Women Wing received him. The Minister received complaints against government departments and issued orders on the sport for the redressed of their problems.

The public grievances were mainly against WAPDA, Sui Southern Gas, Sports Complex, Building Department Education, Health, Livestock and Forest. The Minister constituted a monitoring committee headed by Dr. Naeem Awan to follow up the issues raised in the open Katcherty.
