KARACHI: Former Pakistan Cricket team’s captain Rashid Latif will lead Lashing World XI in the second Emirates Palace Cricket Festival being held in Abu Dhabi from February 24-31, it was announced on Saturday. Lashings World XI will take on an Abu Dhabi CC Chairman’s XI and an Etihad XI. It will also include two former Pakistan test cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq and Abdur Razzaq.
The event looks likely to attract some high-quality opposition for Lashings as it is hoped that County teams Surrey and Yorkshire will also be taking part in the Twenty20 tournament.
Lashings World XI has named a star-studded provisional squad for the event, consisting of: Rashid Latif (Pakistan-Captain/Wicketkeeper), Greg Blewett (Australia), Herschelle Gibbs (South Africa), Phil Defreitas (England), Courtney Walsh (West Indies), Ed Giddins (England), Adam Hollioake (England), Alvin Kallicharran (West Indies – Manager), Devon Malcolm (England), Lance Klusener (South Africa), Abdur Razzaq (Pakistan), Mark Ealham (England), Alan Mullally (England), Russel Arnold (Sri Lanka)
Marvan Atapattu (Sri Lanka) and Saqlain Mushtaq (Pakistan).
