ISLAMABAD: Political leadership of Pakistan, AJK and Indian occupied Kashmir welcomed the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s interest in the resolution of Kashmir issue. They also asked the UN to take initiative under the resolutions of Security Council for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
They demanded of the UN to force Indian troops for halting tyranny in occupied Kashmir, adding that it should fulfill the pledges made by the world community for the solution of Kashmir issue. APHC leader Syed Ali Geelani, PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq, Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmed, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and General (Retd) Hamid Gul made the same statements.
APHC leader Syed Ali Geelani lauded Ban Ki-moon’s statement and said that if the world community wanted peace in South Asia then Kashmir issue should be resolved accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiris. Moreover, he urged the international community to play its due role for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq said that Kashmir is a bone of contention in South Asia and peace cannot be maintained without resolving the said issue. He further stated that the UN had already issued the resolutions of Kashmir issue and India should accept the UN resolutions and come forward for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
Senator Professor. Khurshid Ahmed said that Ban Ki-moon’s statement gave courage to Kashmiris in this crucial time but now it is the responsibility of UN to get its resolutions passed regarding Kashmir issue.
ISI former General (Retd) Hamid Gul also applauded the UNSG statement and demanded of the UN to play its active role for the resolution of Kashmir issue. PTI Chairman Imran Khan made the same statement and said that the genocide of Kashmiris had been going on since half century but now the UN should try to erase Kashmir issue.-SANA
