HASILPUR: Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Ali Ahmed Kurd said on Monday that the lawyers would achieve goal of independence of the judiciary. Talking to Qurban Wirk- led lawyers’ delegation which called on him here, he said that there would be no justification for so called judicial system in the country if the pre-Nov 3rd judiciary was not restored.
He said that no justice no peace; thus, the lawyer community and masses are active for independence of judiciary. Ali Ahmed Kurd said that those parties have bright futures, which are struggling for independence of the judiciary.
Without mentioning PPP-led government, he said that it is the responsibility of the nation to know that why it declined to restore to the judiciary which made promises for independence of judiciary. It was tragedy with the nation that political parties change their stance after grabbing the power, he further said.
The SCBA President said that the day of March 09, 2007 is an historical day as then General Pervaiz Musharraf called Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and forced him to resign but he declined to do so.
Now on March 09, the lawyer community will hold historical long march until the restoration of the judiciary, he categorically stated. He said that the objectives of the lawyer’s long march are very clear as it is for supremacy of the law instead of influencing the law.
He said that the movement would not affect the democratic system but it would stop dictatorship. If the law is supreme in the country then the rulers, the judges and the officials will bond to follow to the law, Kurd said.
Ali Ahmed Kurd said that there is no other option for the government but only to restore the deposed judiciary. He said that the independence of judiciary is not possible without the restoration of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other judges.-SANA
