RAWALPINDI: General David McKiernan, the NATO commander in Afghanistan, Monday held an important meeting with Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani. The two military leaders exchanged views over the war against terrorism and the situation at Pak-Afghan border area.
According to the sources the matter of cross border infiltration was raised during the meeting. Pakistan Army Chief raised the issue of Afghanistan intervention in Swat and informed the NATO Commander about the details of the people who were arrested with arms. Pakistan Army Chief told General McKiernan that the infiltration from Afghanistan if not stopped, it will affect the war against terrorism.
He said that it was necessary to take certain measure for improvement of the situation both side of Pak-Afghan border to win the war against terrorism. However, General Kayani provided the details of foreign militants arrested along with weapons in restive Swat and claimed that they were getting aids from Afghanistan. They also discussed the current situation of Pak-Afghan border during the meeting.-SANA
