Tribal elders threaten to oppose SFDP project

KURRAM AGENCY: Tribal elders threaten to oppose SFDP Project If Job appointments & other development schemes were not made on merit & transparent. According to details this was decided in tribal elders council meeting held on Sunday at the capital of Kurram Agency.

Speaking on occasion tribal elders said that South FATA Development Project (SFDP) worth of millions of rupees was started for the development & welfare of South FATA including Kurram. But unfortunately the corrupt management of Project including bureaucracy used this project as a tool of corruption instead of development. According to elders more than dozen officer staff vacancies were advertised in newspapers ten months ago but appointment were not made yet.

Tribal elders accused that they have reports that Project administration want to recruit non Locals or outsiders candidates from Kurram Agency on key posts such as NRM Coordinator, Engineers & Social side so that they will mutually share the pay by saying that situation is not good in FATA. Thus the management will run the project only in documents while in ground at Kurram Agency there will be no development.

Tribal elders clearly mentioned that hundreds of Youth of Kurram Agency are unemployed even with highest ratio of higher education in entire FATA. They mentioned that these young people even with doctorate (Ph D) and other higher qualifications have applied for the vacant posts of SFDP in Kurram including Project Manager, NRM Coordinator, Engineers, Sub Engineers, and Social Organizers & Junior Social Organizers etc.

Tribal elders threaten that if these local unemployed people of Kurram Agency were not appointed on merit & transparency in Project, Then they will not allow the Project activities in Kurram. They also demanded the President, Prime Minister, Governor & concern authorities to make the project activities & Job appointments transparently for which the tribal elders passed a combine resolution.-SANA
