Several killed in Swat shelling

SWAT:Several people including two children and three women were killed and many others injured in a shelling on Sunday when a shell landed on house in Charbagh. A police personnel dead body was recovered from Rahimabad area. It may be noted that the militants kidnapped and killed him. A dead body was recovered from Hazara, Kabal district.

According to an ISPR statement issued here on Sunday, the security forces continued their clearance operation in Charbagh and engaged suspected hideouts of militants. The security forces have consolidated their hold over Charbagh which was considered to be strong hold of the hardened militants.

In another incident in Aligrama, a patrolling party of the security forces was fired upon and during exchange of fire one security forces personnel was also killed and two others were wounded. During search operation the security forces have arrested 5 suspected militants.

Meanwhile, one police constable was also shot dead by the militants after abduction from his home at Rahimabad on Saturday night. Moreover, the security forces have called upon the masses at large that they should join hands with them in order to stem the menace of militancy and put the valley on the path of progress, development and prosperity.

While The Special Committee of the Parliament on National Security will meet under the chairmanship of the committee Chairman Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Senator Raza Rabbani here at Parliament House on Monday . The committee will discuss the situation of Swat and US drone attacks on FATA and NWFP.

Senator Dr Babar Awan, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sheri Rehman, Federal Minister for Local Government Justice (R) Abdul Razzaq Thaheem, Moulana Fazal-ur- Rehman, Senator Ishaq Dar, Senator Abdul Rahim, MNA Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan, Senator Waseem Sajjad, Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmed, Senator Moulana Samee-ul-Haq, MAN from FATA Munir Khan Orakzai and others will attend the meeting.-SANA
