Pak envoy in Delhi receives death threat

NEW DELHI: Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi Shahid Malik received life threat through an email by extremist elements, an Indian TV reported on Sunday. The Pakistan envoy was threatened to leave India immediately or to face dire consequences in case of not quitting New Delhi.

The envoy has been threatened of assassination in the email, sources said. Foreign Office in Islamabad has confirmed that Pakistan envoy in New Delhi has received the threatening email.

While India has confirmed that security of Pakistan High Commissioner to India has been enhanced following a threatening letter received by the commission. According to the foreign office spokesman Muhammad Sadiq; a request from the Pakistan High commission had been sent six days ago to Indian government. Media reports quoting that after the request received necessary action was taken. It has been reported that the commission asked the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to ensure safety of the high commissioner and officials of the mission.
