Multan—Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Sunday that the government has been elected for five years and will complete its tenure according to its mandate.The Prime Minister categorically stated that the PPP Government and the assemblies will complete their mandated tenure of five years. He said the country can not afford mid-term polls. He was addressing the ground-breaking ceremony in Saraiki language of Head Muhammad Wala bridge over river Chenab between Multan and Muzaffargarh.
He has vowed to make the country strong, developed and prosperous fulfilling the expectations of the people in accordance with the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s promises she made during her election campaign.
Turning to Mumbai incident, Gilani said the government would take the entire world into confidence over Mumbai attacks’ probe. He added Gilani war was no solution of terrorism issue, adding that both Pakistan and India should work together. Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan wants good relations with its neighbours including India and Afghanistan on equal basis. He said Pakistan desires peace so that both India and Pakistan should concentrate their resources towards the welfare of their people.
The inaugurated bridge is one kilometre long bridge with 15 km approach road, costing Rs 2.417 billion, will be completed in three years. Its water discharge capacity would be one million cusec feet.
