ISLAMABAD: the federal government appointed Saleem Raza as Governor of State Bank on Monday. He, after the induction, called on Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at the Prime Minister’s House on Monday.
The Prime Minister expressed the confidence that the new Governor who has sound experience in the financial sector and international banking would work to the best of his abilities towards meeting the enormous economic challenges being faced by the country.
The newly appointed Governor is brother of National Bank of Pakistan President Ali Raza. However, the Governor-appoint has replaced Governor State Bank Shamshad Akhtar as her term is going to end on January 1st and she had also informed the government that she is not interested to stay at her office further.-SANA
