Committee set up for revival of sick industrial units

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly was informed on Wednesday that a committee has been constituted for the revival of sick industrial units in the country.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Industries, Haider Ali Shah informed the House during question hour that the committee out of two thousand five hundred thirty sick units considered about three hundred ninety one cases of such units and recommended for revival of one hundred ninety-nine units employing fifty-two thousand workers.

He said five thousand nine hundred Utility Stores are working at Union Council level across the country to facilitate the general public. Two hundred ninety more Utility Stores will be opened soon at those Union Councils where such outlets are not available.

Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar informed the House that all the eight car manufacturing companies are operational in the country. He said the increase in the prices of different models of cars was due to rupee depreciations as against the dollars and the cost of borrowing money has gone up.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan said there are twelve archaeological museums in the country which were established on the directives of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in 1975. He said the government is taking steps for upgrading these museums.-SANA
