JI, NP, PMAP, APDM to support Saeeduzzaman

ISLAMBAD: Independent opposition in Senate consisting of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Pukhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) and National Party (NP) have announced to support Justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui in presidential elections. Leaders of the independent opposition Senator Professor Khurshid Ahmad, Senator Abdur Rahim Mandokhel and Senator Dr. Abdul Malik in a joint press said Friday that the nine senators of the opposition front would support Justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui.

Khurshid Ahmad said that restoration of the judiciary and its freedom is a burning issue in the country. The APDM boycotted the general elections for restoration of free judiciary and establishment of independent Election Commission, He added. “Justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui is a symbol of the resistance movement that compelled Musharraf to oust.

Abdur Rahim Mandokhel independent judiciary was the focal point of all the political parties in the February 18 elections, but the present government is not upholding its words regarding reinstatement of the judges. He blamed the government of dividing the judges by appointing certain judges. Mandokhel said they support Justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui so that all the judges could be restored. National Party President Dr. Abdul Malik said that they are determined to support Saeeduzzaman as a Presidential candidate. To a question he said that Asif Ali Zardari disappointed the people of Balochistan.

Furthermore The All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) has announced its support to PML-N candidate for next president run Justice (Retd) Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui. APDM leaders Professor Khurshid Ahmed, Abdul Rahim Mandokhel and Professor Ibrahim announced this while addressing a press conference at Parliament House here Friday. They said the alliance has decided to back Saeeduzzaman as he represents the lawyers’ movement, adding that nine Senators belonging to the APDM will cast their votes for him.-SANA
